Open Flame grew out of a turning point.

After years of working long shifts as a chef in Switzerland and Slovenia, Dominik felt a strong pull to build something more meaningful. Something creative, independent, and capable of making a positive contribution. That led to years of self-learning in design, marketing, strategy, and branding, and eventually to work with different clients, startups, and creative projects. At the same time, Ella had already been building her own path through film. Drawn to storytelling and filming from a young age, and developing a natural ability to shape footage into something emotionally clear and visually strong, she wanted to contribute to the world in ways that use her passions and talents for the greater good.

When the two of us worked together on our first client project, the fit was obvious. Our skills complemented each other. One of us was focused on concept, direction, strategy, and design. The other brought the visual storytelling, filming, editing, and production instincts that turn an idea into something beautiful and impactful. Open Flame came out of that meeting point.

The name reflects how we see the work. A flame can mean many things: creation, warmth, renewal, survival, energy. “Open” speaks to the way we work, with transparency, curiosity, honesty, and openness to new ideas. For us, Open Flame is not just a name. It is something living that we keep feeding, shaping, and protecting through the work we do. Something that grows alongside the impact we create.
