Experimental Video Art

This body of work represents Ella’s independent artistic practice developed during her studies at the University of Minnesota. Working across projection, video, sound, and installation, these projects investigate themes of nature, the four elements, memory, abstraction, and the relationship between humans and the more-than-human world.

Beheld explored the interconnectedness of earth, water, air, and fire through projection-based installation, while Beheld II expanded these ideas through more complex projection surfaces and spatial experimentation.

LIGHT I SEE is an experimental music film that recreates the emotional logic of a dream. Written and produced by Ella, the piece explores love, intergenerational trauma, and reconnecting with the childhood self through light, shadow, and abstraction.

Together, these works laid the artistic foundation for later immersive installations and continue to inform Open Flame’s visual language today.
